OUR STORY

In 2020 the world stopped. No I mean it literally stopped. You couldn't find your basic everyday products in the grocery store, like toilet paper and more importantly eggs. Like many others I decided to do my best to help my family become as self sustainable as possible. What started as a small coop to provide eggs for our table grew into a full blown family obsession. Who'd have ever thought that an Urbanite Hippie Artist would come to love chickens so much. After tons of research I decided to start hatching my own and from their grew my chicken encyclopedia. I had no idea their were so many breeds and colors out there. Each with their own unique temperament and set of qualities. I was immediately drawn to some of the more rare breeds, Faverolle, Brown and Lavender Orpington  and of course the Death Layer (because a name doesn't get cooler than that). The list expanded well beyond that and before I knew it I had multiple breeds and a husband who was becoming well versed at building chicken coops. The best part of the whole journey has been how it brought the family together. Wether it is building, feeding or coop cleaning, we all just loved being out there together and playing with our feathered pets. To this day that continues and I hope its something that sticks through their childhood and beyond. The flock is still growing and it never grows old going out to see if my ladies started laying. Or if an ultra rare colorful gem was left in the nesting box. I once heard a very well respected woman I know say "its therapeutic" and she was so right.
